Potential Retail Development Underway

A few weeks ago we dug deeper into the possibility of a mixed use development alongside of Highway 5 and the Bright Star Connector. Our findings brought light on a massive project that might bring some major big box retail and shops to the area. The first major box box retailer to open just this week was Academy Sports. Next up for the area, only time will tell. Several designated plots have been cleared for more commercial establishments. Also several roads are under construction to line the other possible development together. The Hobby Hangout and old Huddle House have been demolished facing Highway 5.  According to a document we found on a Douglasville Development website, the project looks to be a full scale Lifestyle Center. Looking at the picture below you will see a center court along with Theater and shops. The above picture you will see that the sign could support 2 additional “big box” retailers. So with that being said we could see the first half of the project actually coming to fruition. Keep in mind we have not contacted anyone from the City of Douglasville about the project. At this time we do not have any confirmation on stores and restaurants. However we have heard rumblings of several possible grocery stores. More to come!
