The wild morning started around 3:45am with heavy rain and then a band of strong straight line winds around 4am. Shortly after, we started getting numerous reports of trees and power lines down across the county. The first report was a tree down on some power lines off Stripling Chapel Rd at Edgewood Drive near Central Elementary School. Then the biggest one of them all was a huge tree that fell onto Dixie Street near Austin Avenue. As you can see by the picture it took down several power lines along with Charter Cable in the area. The street will be closed for quite sometime as crews remove the tree and debris. A mix of power outages were reported to us by Georgia Power and Carroll EMC throughout the morning. The largest outage of them all was around the Mill Pond area which came back on around 7am. Crews are still working hard to restore power to around 600 in the area. We will update this number after 12 Noon. You can check our Twitter Feed for ongoing coverage of more possible weather later this morning. www.twitter.com/carrolltonmenu Special thanks to Carroll County 911 for confirmation of several weather related issues this morning.
