Wimbish to become Director of Federal Programs and Title I for Coweta Schools

Melissa Wimbish has been named as the Coweta County School System’s Director of Federal Programs and Title I, to begin July, 2015.
Wimbish is currently the Principal of Evans Middle School, where she has served since 2011. In her new position, she will manage all aspects of the Title I program in Coweta schools, including budgeting, data-collection and record-keeping, serving as parent and community liaison and professional development for teaching staff for Title I activities. She will also oversee other federal programs including Title II-A (highly qualified teachers and leaders), Title X (homeless) and Title IC (migratory children), among other duties.
Wimbish is a 22-year educator. She taught for five years at Luthersville Elementary School in Meriwether County before coming to Coweta County in 1998, as a 5th grade teacher at Ruth Hill Elementary. She served as an assistant principal at Evans Middle School 2003 to 2007, and the principal of Atkinson Elementary School 2007 to 2011, before being named the principal of Evans Middle School in June, 2011.
Wimbish earned her Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State University, and earned Masters and Education Specialist degrees in Administration and Supervision from Troy State University.
