New Southern Buffet And Grill To Open In Old Shoney’s

The now empty building where Shoney's called home for 3 decades will soon be home to a new Southern Buffet and Grill.
The now empty building where Shoney’s called home for 3 decades will soon be home to a new Southern Buffet and Grill.

That was fast! Back in April we brought the news of the last Douglas County Shoney’s closing its doors on April 15. Soon after we heard from several tipsters and Facebook followers that a new tenant was about to take Shoney’s place. Over the weekend we drove by to see that indeed someone was building and working on the interior of the old Shoney’s spot. At the time, a sign placed on the building was crinkled up and not where we could see the name, however the building permit on the door indicated “southern buffet and grill”. At the time we rode by, not much work has been done on the place so its tough to say when the new buffet and grill will open or what it will look like….or even a name for it yet. We’ll keep on it and as soon as we find out a name, or a target opening date we will let you know.
