Ed Dudley Retires After 30 Seasons in Coaching

CARROLLTON TROJANS HEAD COACH RETIRES – Press Release

Carrollton, GA – Carrollton High School announced today that Head Football Coach Ed Dudley, a Georgia coaching icon, is retiring effective at the end of the school year. Dudley’s career record is an incredible 193 wins and only 87 losses. Carrollton High School followed stops at Buford, Walton and Ware County. Trojan Athletic Director David Brooks said, “Ed Dudley is a good man and a great football coach. We will begin the search for a new head football coach to the lead the Trojan program immediately. I’m confident there will be a number of highly qualified candidates interested in what Carrollton has to offer.” Dudley’s arrival in Carrollton followed the graduation of one of the most successful classes in the last 20 years at Carrollton. The Class of 2013 had numerous Division 1 recruits and played for the GHSA State Championship title twice in four years. Dudley was able to stabilize the program following the graduation of that highly touted class.In Dudley’s first year as the Trojan head coach, the team posted a 4-6 mark. This past season, the Trojans returned to the state playoffs and earned their way to the second round. The Trojans finished 6-6 on the year.

Dr. Mark Albertus, Principal of Carrollton High School, said of the retirement, “Having Ed Dudley come in and lead the youngest team we’ve had in recent memory sets up our program for new successes. We want to thank him for his service and wish he and his family the best of luck.”
