The original story from March of 2015 hinted on a ground breaking expected for the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites sometime in August of this year. It is now December and work has just begun for the new hotel. This is very exciting. The new Holiday Inn Express & Suites will replace the existing hotel next to Kroger off Hwy 27. The former hotel will rebrand to a Best Western Plus (Per Hotel Workers) once the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites is ready for opening. According to construction documents, the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites will feature 79 rooms. This particular hotel will be in an area between GA Game Shop and Dermo Realty’s South Park Plaza off Hwy 27. For many years Honey Baked Ham has stored extra trucks in this area.
