Seven Carroll County High School Students Win 2016 High School Creative Writing Contest

(Carrollton, Ga. ­ March 17, 2016) The Cultural Arts Division of the Carrollton Parks and Recreation
held the 2016 High School Creative Writing Competition Award Ceremony on March 10, 2016. The contest is an opportunity for students to share their literary talents and be awarded for their efforts. Seven Carroll County students were awarded certificates and cash prizes for their entries. Overall, eight students won awards. This year the program was cosponsored by The Fulford Family Foundation, Jill Adams State Farm, and the Carrollton Creative Writers Club. Racquel Thomas, a junior at Mt. Zion High School, was chosen as the first place winner ($300) in the poetry category for her entry entitled “The Mind of the Neanderthal” & “But Now, I am a Woman”.

Haley Thompson, a freshman at Central High School, was the first place winner ($300) in the short story category for her entry entitled, “They Think I’m the Monster.”
