CARROLLTON, GA – Beginning May 31, Carrollton City Schools will provide free meals to children while school is out through the “Seamless Summer” program. There is no income or registration requirement and any child age 18 and under may receive a free breakfast and/or lunch meal at any of the 11 Carrollton locations.
“We are excited for the opportunity to provide meals for the children from our district at various sites throughout the community,” said Dr. Linette Dodson, director of School Nutrition for Carrollton City Schools. “This is a great option for families during the summer months when their children are not in school to receive healthy meals during the week.”
Carrollton City Schools chose to participate in the program, which is an extension of the United States Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs. Dodson said the goal is to do as much as possible to increase participation so that more children are fed daily. Partnering with the school system are Action Ministries and Tanner Health System.
