Press Release:

Tanner Health System’s Get Healthy, Live Well is inviting the community to help “light up the night” at a family-friendly event that is sure to get kids and adults alike excited about being active.

As part of its #SummerOfHealth campaign, Get Healthy, Live Well is partnering with Perpetual Motion and the University of West Georgia to host the “Light up the Night” family bike ride parade on the university’s Quad in Carrollton on June 24.

The Quad is located directly across from the Townsend Center on West Georgia Drive. Parking will be available in the Townsend Center parking lot and the parking lot in front of the Humanities Building.

“Get Healthy, Live Well wants to get the entire family excited about exercise this summer,” said Patricia Mitchell, wellness and prevention coordinator at Get Healthy, Live Well. “With the help of our partners, we have created an event that is sure to be not only fun, but educational.”

Starting at 6 p.m. there will be information on bike and helmet safety. There will also be bike and helmet fit checks. Registration for the bike ride will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The ride begins at 8 p.m.

The event not only provides an opportunity for kids to get active, they can get their creative juices flowing by entering the bike and helmet decorating contest. To enter, kids simply have to decorate their bikes and helmets then bring them to the event. Flasher lights will be provided at the event.

Judging will begin at 6:30 p.m. There will be prizes for the first, second and third place winners in each category. The first place winner will receive a Razor scooter. The second place winner will receive a basket filled with bicycle accessories. The third place winner will receive a soccer ball and yo-yo.
