Tummy Time Maternity Clothing and Gift Store Opening in Carrollton

Parents and expecting mothers will soon have a new shopping destination in Carrollton. Tummy Time, a maternity store is set to open in February, and will feature maternity clothing, baby gifts, and accessories.

Jessica Pope and her husband Jonathan, owners of Tummy Time, decided to open the business after finding it difficult to purchase clothing and accessories during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

“I have two kids, a three-year-old and a newborn, and I was just having a lot of trouble finding maternity clothes in this area,” says Jessica. “Most mothers, like myself, find people on Facebook who are selling maternity clothes and some natural parenting items. I wanted to open a business in which parents could come in and shop for items they need instead of searching for them online.”

Jessica describes Tummy Time as a boutique for mothers and babies, specializing in new and gently used maternity clothes, natural parenting and select baby items and gifts that are not generally found at the large retail stores.

“We will carry things like amber necklaces, natural lotions and sunscreens, cloth diapers, and affordable maternity clothes,” says Jessica. “We also want to become the “hub” for mothers-to-be and new moms so they have a support network for those difficult times.”

Jessica and her husband, Jonathan, are both Navy veterans who live in Bremen.

“We plan on carrying a lot of the boutique-style clothing for babies,” says Jessica. “We will also have maternity clothing items and outfits.”

Jessica said the store is now taking appointments for consigners and to buy gently used maternity clothes and other select items.

“We invite people to contact us to set up a time for them to bring in their gently used maternity clothes and accessories that we may be interested in purchasing for resale,” says Jessica. “We are currently looking for gently used maternity and nursing clothing, mom gear, baby carriers, cloth diapers, diaper bags, pumping accessories, maternity and breastfeeding books, and boutique clothing from premie to 18 months. You can visit our Facebook page to find out more about resale items.”

Tummy Time will also feature the work of local photographers. Jessica says the store will have maternity and newborn pictures of local moms on the walls.

She also says the store will have many items and accessories for breastfeeding mother, including nursing shirts and other items related to breastfeeding.

“We will have things like a scale for weighing babies and other things like that—which is important for new breastfeeding babies,” says Jessica.
Tummy Time will also serve as a destination for families of expecting mothers to purchase gifts for expecting mothers. Jessica says she looks forward to hearing from local mothers on potential items that could be offered in the store.

“We are looking for item suggestions on things moms would like to see in the store,” says Jessica. “If anyone has any ideas, they can shoot us a message on Facebook. We are currently in the process of getting everything set up and are hoping to have our grand opening on February 2.”

Tummy Time is located at 1561 S Hwy 27 in Carrollton. To learn more about Tummy Time, visit their Facebook page, or website at www.tummy-time.com.
