For Kyler Hembree, art has always been a passion. After opening her own art studio, teaching art classes, and being a public school teacher for several years, Hembree discovered that she may have the opportunity to infuse her love of art with a newfound desire: the art of fashion. Hembree states, “I’ve always enjoyed shopping at unique places and finding interesting, artistic items.” Therefore, with her passion and business experience she created GrayeStyle, a boutique that she believes is the best of both worlds.
Kyler owned and operated an art studio, Local Color, in her hometown of Villa Rica for over four years. Despite her love for and the comforts of her hometown Hembree saw an opportunity she couldn’t resist.
“I enjoyed being in Villa Rica and seeing familiar faces, but when I heard about the Hudson Mill project, I was very intrigued,” says Hembree. “After looking into the location, I decided that it was the perfect match, so we moved our shop here to Carrollton.”
GrayeStyle, which opened in November 2016, has become one of several trendy businesses to make its debut at the Hudson Mill complex.
“The name Grayestyle comes from my middle name, Graye, and from my own personal style, which is eclectic and a little edgy. My artwork is also available for purchase in the store, so I think the name GrayeStyle fits very well,” says Hembree.
When selecting items to sell to consumers, she likes to combine a little bit of traditional with a little bit of funk.
“We strive to carry different brands and products that aren’t available in neighboring stores for the shopping experience here to be unique.” She also doesn’t skimp on comfort or quality, and prioritizes comfort in her inventory. “We just want to be known for being different. A place where you can find styles that are distinctive and edgy, but also comfortable and classy. The clothing you find here is very much like the store’s atmosphere; welcoming, comfortable, and stylish.”
Hembree notes that she tries to ensure she has something for everyone.
“We carry a wide variety of items which includes clothing, shoes, and accessories,” says Hembree. “We also have a great selection of unique jewelry, soaps, and essential oils, which are created by artists from around the country. When people shop at GrayeStyle, they rarely leave empty handed. Typically they find something that appeals to them or that would make a great gift.”
“Thus far, our clientele seem to really appreciate the vibe here, so we hope that more local shoppers will come by and check us out”, says Hembree. “We pride ourselves in having a variety of merchandise, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service.”
As her slogan states, ‘‘Shop local. Be awesome.’’
Grayestyle is located inside the Hudson Mill complex in downtown Carrollton and is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Extended hours for downtown and Amp events.
