Local Financial Advisory Firm Treats Widows, Widowers for Valentine’s Day

This year for Valentine’s Day Norton Financial in Villa Rica rented out Gabe’s Downtown and invited their widowed clients to lunch.

“A lot of our ladies and men who have lost their spouse miss Valentine’s Day,” company founder Jason Norton said. “They miss the gifts; eating out somewhere nice; the special attention. They miss having a special day. We are so happy to do this for them and I think our team gets just as much out of it as the clients do.”

New for the annual event was a dynamic guest speaker. Anne B. Say is a recognized author, speaker, and coach with over 20 years’ experience helping people discover and live into their unique God-given identity. She gave a 20 minute talk on self-identity and promoted the concept of “living with purpose on purpose.”

“It’s a wonderful thing to do this for clients,” client Leslie Pair said. “For people who are widowed, we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day quite the way we used to, so this is a nice break for us.”

Lunch Monday was on Norton Financial. Administrative Assistant Kimberly Moore did an exemplary job planning the event and coordinating with Gabe’s and the guest speaker.

Operations Manager Maggie Lee arranged for each lady to have a vase of roses and each man a box of chocolates. Associate Financial Advisor J. Backus, who asked the blessing on the meal, said he enjoyed celebrating the holiday with a fun group of folks, turning what could be a dismal day for them into a lively and memorable occasion. “We had a blast,” Backus said. “The group was wonderful and we had a big time.”
