Brown Dog Eatery Celebrates One-Year Anniversary, New Event Space Opening Soon

One of Carrollton’s most popular restaurants is celebrating its one-year anniversary this month. Brown Dog Eatery is a unique, Charleston, South Carolina-styled restaurant that has an added local flavor of its own. Rich Weaver and his wife Stephanie opened Brown Dog Eatery last year in hopes that it would be a hit among the downtown restaurant scene. “We took a leap of faith in opening this type of restaurant in Carrollton and—being a year into it—we realized we hit a homerun with it,” says Rich. “It’s a place where everyone can come in and enjoy great food and an excellent vibe with outstanding customer service.” Brown Dog offers southern-inspired cuisine with special locally-themed menu items. He says the ingredients at Brown Dog are always fresh and almost always locally produced.

Rich and Stephanie also own City Tavern, which has been a popular dining destination in downtown Carrollton for the past three years. The couple said they are proud to announce a new event venue, Next Door, which will be located adjacent to City Tavern. “Our new event space will be an extension of City Tavern, so we decided to call it Next Door,” says Rich. “It will essentially be a space that is only available for private events.”

“It’s not your average event space with white walls and standard lighting,” says Rich. “The space has five chandeliers, and it has a very rustic atmosphere. It will be perfect for corporate events, holiday parties, bridal showers, class reunions, and lots of other kinds of gatherings.”

Next Door will have seating for up to 40-60 people for a dinner setting with tables, or up to 100 people for standing room. Next door will feature catering from both Brown Dog Eatery and City Tavern.

“We will have a special catering menu for guests to select what they want from both Brown Dog, and City Tavern,” says Rich. “They will have the option to build their own buffet from menu items at both restaurants. It will be one of the best event spaces in town with some of the best food you can get. Our slogan is ‘Events with Taste.’ Not only is it great food, but it’s meticulously designed and decorated.”

Next Door will also feature an adjoining patio with City Tavern, which is the largest patio in downtown Carrollton. The event space will officially open its doors and begin accepting reservations on October 6. To book your event at Next Door, call City Tavern at 678-890-1100. “We are very excited to open Next Door and also to celebrate the success of our restaurants,” says Rich. “We are looking forward to serving the people of Carrollton for many years to come.”
