Franklin Dollar General Could Open In December

According to Karen Boyd, City Clerk for Franklin, Georgia, the expected opening date could be sometime in December for the new Dollar General location off Franklin Parkway. Angeila Petkovic, Media Relations with Dollar General tells us,  “Our store that is currently located at 2002 Franklin Pkwy is scheduled to relocate to its new location at the completion of construction. At this time, a grand opening is slated for the beginning of 2018, but we hope to have a soft opening before the end of the year. Please understand that construction progress may alter this date, so feel free to check back with us on a periodical basis for updates. Additionally, please note this is not a DG Market format, but rather a DG Plus format.  This means the new location will provide Franklin residents with approximately 2,000 additional sales floor square footage to include expanded cooler and freezer space for additional offerings of fresh and frozen foods.

When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority. The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice.  We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10 minute drive.  We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration. All of the employees at the current location in Franklin will be transferring to the new store after opening.”

Two more Dollar General stores are slated to start construction in Centralhattchee off Highway 27 at Joe Cook Road and in Ephesus off Highway 100 and Rollins Road. Construction start dates have not been announced just yet for those two locations. Keep watching The City Menus for more updates.
