The Carrollton Fire Department responded to a fire this morning behind a popular Carrollton Restaurant near Maple Street. Workers from 302 South Street reported the fire this morning that started in a building behind the restaurant.

“The fire started in our storage building behind 302,” said Jacob Skelton, owner. “The storage building was heavily impacted, but our restaurant was not damaged.” Several followers of The City Menus informed us that this building is known as the former Barbeque Hut.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Carrollton police closed South Street and Maple Street in response to the fire shortly before noon.

Skelton said 302 will remain open for normal business hours for lunch and dinner, but that the payment system was damaged. He noted that payments would be accepted through the Square credit card payment app on smartphones.

Carrollton Fire Chief Jimmy Bearden said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the incident is being investigated.

“We have an investigator out there now, and we hope to be able to determine the cause of the fire soon,” said Bearden.

302 South Street has been a long-time supporter of The City Menus, and we appreciate the support of Jacob and the entire 302 crew.
