Nama Asian Fusion Opens on Adamson Square

Carrollton’s growing downtown restaurant scene now has a new addition. Nama Asian Fusion, Carrollton’s first rooftop restaurant and bar, opened on February 17.

Nama is located on Adamson Square next to Pita Pit and Southwire. The restaurant will feature a mix of Asian-inspired cuisines.

“We plan to have the best of Asian cuisine, but I would describe it as contemporary, Asian-infused cuisine,” says Derek Huynh. “We will have a mix of Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and other kinds of food. We plan on having some interesting menu items, such as locally inspired sushi rolls, and other items.”

Huynh owns the restaurant with Dave Hong, who also owns Tokyo Express. The two have known each other since grade school and have worked closely in making the new restaurant a success.

“We want to introduce authentic Asian cuisine in an approachable manner,” says Dave. “It’s cuisine that you don’t normally find around here.”

Dave has more than 12 years of experience in making sushi and other Asian cuisine. The partners made major upgrades to the interior of the restaurant space and added a 1,200 square foot rooftop bar and seating area.

“We added the rooftop area because we wanted to do something unique,” says Derek. “Lots of people who have seen it tell me it feels like a midtown Atlanta or Buckhead atmosphere. It’s definitely something new for Carrollton because there’s nothing else like that around here.”

In addition to the rooftop, the partners worked to revamp the restaurant space’s upstairs bar by adding 30 feet of bar space, as well as many brand new TV’s.

“Nama will essentially have three levels–the ground floor, upstairs, and rooftop,” says Derek. “We are presenting an atmosphere for all ages, and we want to create a place that’s family-friendly during the day. We will have some games in the upstairs part of the restaurant. We plan to have shuffleboard, giant Jenga, and a Nintendo 64 for guests to enjoy.”

“Our cocktail menu represents the unique environment that the square needs. Here at Nama we are striving to expand the late-night scene. Our late-night bar offers many firsts to Carrollton” says assistant manager, Kaitlyn Helton.

The rooftop level as well as the restaurant will also be available for event and private event rentals.

Nama Asian Fusion will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and closed Sundays and Mondays. The dining room will be closed from 2:00 p.m.  to 5:00 p.m. but the upstairs bar will open at 1 p.m. and feature a limited menu.
