Retreat Center Opens in Tallapoosa

A new retreat center recently opened off Salem Church Road in Tallapoosa. Lutheranch sits on 519 acres of rolling hills and woodlands in the Appalachian foothills.

Lutheranch is part of an umbrella company called NovusWay Ministries, based in Asheville, North Carolina, along with three other retreat centers—two in North Carolina and one in Florida. The retreat center opened last August and will soon begin hosting summer camps for children and families of all ages.

The McKanna-Sandrock Retreat Center at Lutheranch was completed and dedicated last August and has been open for retreats since that time.  The facility has 41 guest rooms total: 31 with two queen size beds each and a private bath (two of which are handicapped accessible) and 10 youth rooms, each with two sets of bunk beds.  In addition, there are three meeting rooms with AV equipment, a beautiful great room and dining room and a cozy foyer with gas fireplace.

Officials from Novusway Ministries plan to build a recreation field on the property in the near future.  Next-stage development for Lutheranch includes a central dining hall with meeting rooms, youth cabins, and additional staff housing.

Lutheranch has been a vision since the 1980s when the Southeastern synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church began exploring the possibility of establishing a site in North Georgia. Lutheranch already has a deep and rich history, formed by the hopes, dreams, and prayers of hundreds of dedicated people who were determined to make it a reality.
