Dawnbreakers Rotary Club Hosts 1st Annual Appreciation Fiesta And donates over $10,000 to local charitable organizations

CARROLLTON, GA, May 1, 2018— What better way to say “Gracias” to the charities in the west Georgia community than with beer, a taco bar, and big checks? The Rotary Club of Carrollton Dawnbreakers sought to create a fun and memorable way to say thank you to their top sponsors of their annual event, Casino Night, as well as give back to the organizations that so generously give to Carroll County. Thus, the first Appreciation Fiesta was born.

More than 50 Rotarians and community members attended the event at Printer’s Ale Manufacturing Co. Acknowledgement was given to 14 businesses and individuals for their sponsorship of Casino Night this year, and 9 charitable organizations were presented with more than $10,000 collectively in donations from the club: Circles of West Georgia, Communities in Schools, Rotaract of West Georgia, CART, Back The Blue, The Boys and Girls Club, Fraternal Order of Police, CASA, and West Georgia Tech.

Perhaps Club President, Michael Stone, said it best:

“The good works of Rotary happens outside our meetings. We are blessed with great sponsors who allow us to be able to give to these organizations in our community. We are helping children, senior citizens, those applying for their GED, as well as law enforcement. This makes me proud to be a Rotarian.”

Mary Hart, Director of Circles of West Georgia accepts donation from President, Michael Stone “What a fun event! Thank you, Dawnbreakers Rotary, for the generous gift to Circles. This will help to make a difference in so many families striving for a better life”, says Mary Hart, Director of Circles.

Charitable Giving Chairman, Mark Foster, presents the Boys and Girls Club of West Georgia with a donation of $1,000.00

Club President Elect, Adam Wilkins, is looking forward to continuing the new tradition in 2019, with one addition,

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the turn out for the event, but I’m pretty excited to bring in a margarita station to add to the fun,” said Wilkins. “Who doesn’t love a good margarita?”

The club plans to keep the Appreciation Fiesta around the same date each year as a playoff of Cinco de Mayo and intend to raise even more funds to support our Carroll County community.

The Rotary Club of Carrollton Dawnbreakers was chartered on February 21,1997. The club meets at 7:30 a.m. each Wednesday morning at the Sunset Hills Country Club. As the club that puts “Service Above Self”, Dawnbreaker Rotarians give much of their time participating in community projects such as Tanner ReadER, The Little Pantries and Special Olympics.
