Small Town Radio Show Gets Big-Time Recognition

Kandi Daniel Studios

What better way to do something you love than to do what you love with a friend who shares the same passion? That is exactly what Newnan business owners and friends, Lori Duncan, owner of Blue Fern Merchant, and Kenya Brantley, owner of Greenhouse Mercantile, did when they created L&K UNSCRIPTED, a Newnan-based radio show that has made major success on iHeartRadio 720 The Voice and on social media.

“L&K UNSCRIPTED has definitely been a process of coming about,” said Brantley. “In 2016, Lori had the creative idea of the original show. She wanted it to be informative yet fun, always with the intent of letting people know how wonderful downtown Newnan and surrounding cities were. From there, Lori invited me to be a part of the show, and from there it continued to blossom and become something that is truly extraordinary!”

The radio show, which is recorded at the iHeartRadio station in Newnan, features up and coming entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, and local community leaders as well as more established figures in local and national forums.

Topics can range from just about anything from being a small business owner, to upcoming events on the South side of Atlanta, to the highs and lows of being a wife and mom. Our shows are truly unscripted, just as life sometimes is,” said Brantley. “We usually reach out to some pretty amazing makers and shakers in the community to be  guests on the show! From there, we are constantly researching hot topics and current events, as well as looking to our own lives for some topic inspiration!”

L&K UNSCRIPTED has found great success through the use of social media outlets like Facebook Live, WOW TV and YouTube. Listeners can hear the show on iHeartRadio/720 The Voice on Saturday mornings at 8:30 a. m. and will soon be able to hear them on 98.1 Sundays at 10:30 a.m. The ladies utilize Facebook Live every Friday morning at 9:00. L&K UNSCRIPTED is also available on Google Play and iTunes!

“Feedback for the show has been absolutely amazing! As of right now, we currently get almost 10,000 views a week just through social media and we absolutely love corresponding with our viewers through our live broadcasts,” she says.

Lori and Kenya are preparing to host an upcoming event in August! L&K’s Girls Night Out will take place on Thursday, August 30 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot in Newnan, Georgia.

Guests can expect to enjoy music from a live D.J., a Q&A session with Lori and Kenya, and a special entertainment surprise. Guests may also indulge in hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar. A portion of the proceeds will go to Keris Kares and Coweta Community Foundation.
