“New Home for the New Year” Pet Adoption Fair Announced
Newnan-Coweta Humane Society & Coweta County Animal Control Partner for Homeless Pets
“New Home for the New Year,” is a family-friendly pet adoption fair that will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from 9a.m. until 12p.m. at Coweta County Animal Control (CCAC). The Newnan-Coweta Humane Society (NCHS) and Coweta County Animal Control are cohosting the fun. Located at 91 Selt Road (off Hospital Road in Newnan) the public is invited and it’s totally free to attend. Visitors and potential adopters are welcome to tour their local shelter and take advantage of the one day special of half-price adoptions on any cat or dog at CCAC.
Guest with two legs are sure to have as much fun as their 4-legged friends! A variety of activities are planned including a cornhole tournament, doggie kissing booth, refreshments from Chick-fil-a and other local eateries, and much more. Door prizes and raffles for things ranging from dog grooming to jewelry will also be held. Guests of honor, of course, will be the adoptable cats and dogs.
“It’s going to be a fun time for a great cause,” explains Linda Earhart, President of the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society. “We’re looking forward to having everyone come out that day to meet both our shelter pets and a few of our foster dogs.” NCHS also plans to offer discounted adoption fees on fostered pets. Those can be seen online at www.NCHSRescue.org.
Discounted pet adoptions are a great bargain. Adopted animals will be spayed or neutered, examined by the veterinarian, will be up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, and will also be microchipped! Dogs are also checked for heartworms. Cash, credit cards, or debit cards are accepted for adoption fees. Bring your driver’s license. Checks are not accepted. Renters considering adopting need to bring a letter from their landlord stating they are allowed to have pets.
Home is where the heart is. At least that’s the hope of hundreds of homeless yet happy, perfectly adoptable Coweta County pets living at animal control. “Save the date” could also mean “Save a life.” On Saturday, January 9, 2016, the people of Newnan/Coweta County have a chance to be heroes, lifesavers and have fun doing it!
