Transition Council Fair Set for March 10

CARROLLTON, GA – The special education departments of local school districts and the West Georgia Transition Council will be hosting a Job and Transition Fair for high school juniors, seniors, former students and their parents on Thursday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Carroll Gym located on Northlake Drive in Carrollton.

The purpose of the fair is to promote successful transitions for students with disabilities from high school to post-secondary work, education and living. The fair provides a supportive environment for students and their families to visit vendors representing employers, post-secondary schools, supportive agencies and community living options.

The fair is sponsored by Carroll County Exceptional Children Services, Carrollton City Schools Special Education Department, Bremen City Schools Special Education Department, Haralson County Schools Special Education Department and the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency.

Participants include employers and services providers The Home Depot, Belk, Roosevelt-Warm Springs, Briggs & Associates, Cave Spring Center, Pathways, Carroll County ARC, DBHDD Region 6 Medicaid Waivers, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation, West Georgia Transition Council, Carrollton Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department/Special Olympics and Down Syndrome Association of America, Carrollton Police and Fire departments, Villa Rica Police Department, Flowers Bakery, Win Win Equine Services and Therapy and branches of the U.S. military.
