Development Plans for Panera Bread Approved

Out with the old and in with the new!

The city’s Planning and Development Committee approved the plans for the restaurant by a vote of 5-0 at yesterday’s meeting.  In addition to incorporating a drive-thru, plans also call for downsizing the 6,000-square-foot space to 5,000.

“We’re hoping to change the eyesore into something high-end looking,” explained GreenbergFarrow Associate Principal Hamilton Williams.

Panera Bread will be located in the Douglasville Pavilion shopping plaza at 2868 Chapel Hill Road. It will occupy the former location of Joe’s Crab Shack, which closed in September last year. Plans for its opening day were not immediately clear.

“We’re hoping to open before the Thanksgiving holiday, said Williams.
