June 2017: The Carrollton Housing Authority recently announced its upcoming community event celebrating fathers, families, and parental involvement.
The event, Fatherhood Initiative- A Celebration of Fathers and Families, is aimed at supporting fathers and families living in affordable housing as well as others in the community. The event is scheduled for Friday, June 16, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Legends West Park- 215 Fourth Street in Carrollton.
Hosting the event, the Carrollton Housing Authority is providing a multitude of activities for the entire family, including interactive games, crafts, community resource booths, give-a- ways, food, and much more. The event will also provide resources by-way of community exhibitors’ who will be offering financial, educational, and medical information to families. Agencies providing career development and prevention material will also be there to share information with attendees.
The housing authority’s Social Services Manager, Jodie Goodman, states “We are excited about the opportunity to work with so many of our community partners to shine a positive light on Fathers and the important role that they play in our community. The Fatherhood Initiative Event has come to be one of our favorite, annual events at the housing authority. We invite everyone to join us in this community celebration!”
Across the nation, housing authorities and surrounding communities are hosting activities that celebrate fatherhood. These activities are all a part of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s National Father’s Day Initiative, designed to provide opportunities for fathers and families to engage in fun activities.
The Carrollton Housing Authority’s 3rd Annual Fatherhood Initiative, themed, “Super Dads- Who needs a Superhero when you have a Dad?” has received an outpouring of support from local businesses, churches, non-profits, and other community service agencies wanting to be part of this worthy affair. It is sure to be a memorable and fun event for the entire community.
