Central High School Agriculture Teacher, Ms. Laura Williford, was awarded a $500 Agriculture in the Classroom grant earlier this month. Ms. Williford received one of only 15 grants awarded nationwide by the CHS Farming Cooperative located in Minnesota. The grant funds will support the purchase of equipment for agriculture science classes researching energy systems. Students will be investigating alternate sustainable energy forms and will determine the best materials for biofuel production. Through the use of grant funds, it is Ms. Williford’s intention is to encourage ideas and interest in biofuels and management of our resources. By introducing the biofuel industry to students, career interests are developed for those entering the trade skills workforce.
