UWG Completes Two Major Projects Before Year-End

Kevin Hemphill

Two major projects at the University of West Georgia have reached or are near completion in the final weeks of 2018.

First, the new Student Health Center, located in the southwest corner of the Tyus Hall parking lot next to the Honors College, is in the finishing stages and is scheduled to open as spring classes begin in January. As stated in a university press release we published in February, the new facility has been constructed through a joint partnership between UWG and the Tanner Health System.

Second, the construction of a new parking lot next to the UWG Campus Center reached its completion in the last couple of weeks. The new surface parking lot provides convenient access to the Campus Center Ballroom, a space frequently used for events both by the university and community, and features a covered drop-off area, covered walkways, and flat, accessible access from the lot into the building. We first reported on the project in May. You can read that story here.
