University of West Georgia students will be happy to know that when they return from Christmas break, Lobos, a southwestern style restaurant, will be open on campus across from the UWG bookstore.

We first reported this back in October with Einstein Brothers Bagel Co. closing its doors for renovations. John Lyons, Director of Campus Dining at UWG, said a new kitchen hood had to be installed and a new griddle to go along with it.

Lyons mentioned that surveys and focus groups were conducted by their marketing department, and they found people wanted more Mexican food. From this, Lobos was created. Lobos will be a grab-and-go-dining selection on campus, and the price is designed to fit into the budget of the students. Chefs on campus are curating their own recipes and menus. Staff has already been hired, have begun training, and will continue to train.

According to the UWG Auxiliary Services, Lobos will offer “made to order tacos, burritos, nachos, rice bowls, and more. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available as well as corn tortillas for our gluten-free Wolves.”

Lobos will open officially on January 7th, 2019. Happy Dining Wolves!
