    The Great GreenBelt Cleanup 2019

(Last Updated On: March 15, 2019)

Stephanie Swint organized a group of volunteers from Walmart Distribution Center in Carrollton to help with the cleanup.

In August 2016, Friends of Carrollton GreenBelt (FoCGB) partnered with Keep Carroll Beautiful (KCB) to promote the Adopt-A-Trail (AAT) Program. Joining AAT involves simple but important tasks that supplement the maintenance efforts of the City of Carrollton Parks and Recreation Department, such as picking up litter and removing small debris from the trail. Occasionally, the duties include trimming around and cleaning trail signs and reporting damage or vandalism to the Parks Maintenance Department. Individuals and families, social clubs, garden clubs, churches, scout troops, community organizations, and businesses are all welcome to join the program in a collective effort to preserve the Carrollton GreenBelt – a truly unique amenity available to the Carrollton community and our Visitors. Volunteers commit to cleaning one of the 23 sections or six trailheads every two weeks for a period of one year.

To promote the effort to clean and beautify one of our community’s most cherished assets, to bring awareness to the litter problem, and to engage those who cannot commit to regular participation in the AAT program, KCB and FoCGB organized the Great GreenBelt CleanUp 2018. The event was the GreenBelt’s version of spring-cleaning. During the 2018 cleanup, more than 100 bags of trash were picked up from the GreenBelt!

On March 23, 2019, Keep Carroll Beautiful and Friends of Carrollton GreenBelt will once again link arms to host the second annual Great GreenBelt Cleanup. Thanks to a generous donation from this year’s title sponsor: RA-LIN and Associates as well as 2018 returning sponsors Garrett & Robinson Investment Management and St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, we will be able to replace trash pickers and provide additional supplies for Keep Carroll Beautiful’s litter prevention programs.

The event will kickoff at 8:30 am (rain or shine – as long as there is no lightning). Please meet at the Pavilion at East Carrollton Park. Supplies and trail assignments will be distributed. Children under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
