The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce named Tim Brewer, CEO of Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor as the 2019 Small Business Person of the Year during the Membership Barbecue held Thursday, August 22 at Mill Town Music Hall.

Tim Brewer became the sole owner of Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor in 1994.  At the time, the company employed four people with limited business revenue. Under Tim’s leadership, Addison Smith boasts seven departments with eighty-six employees and projects ranging from commercial construction to residential service.

Mr. Brewer credits much of the success of his business to choosing the right “key people’ in well- matched divisions of his company.  With personality testing and at least three one-on-one meetings, Tim has been able to fill key positions with the right people. Further, Addison Smith is a performance-based company.  This business model empowers employees to fashion their future. With financial metrics and an incentive structure in place, employees can see and benefit from the commitment to performance.

In addition to operating a successful company, Tim has made it a priority to be involved in the community.  Tim is the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee at Tanner Health Systems, serves on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce, serves on the finance committee at Midway Church and is involved with Carroll County CASA, and the Carroll County Soup Kitchen as well as actively supporting  Habitat for Humanity and Open Hands Ministry. Currently, Tim is working on an initiative to engage local high school students in construction trades.

Since 1990, The Small Business Person of the Year award has recognized the outstanding contributions of small business people to the economy and overall progress of the west Georgia area.  To be eligible for nomination, the business person must be an active member of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and been in business in Carroll County for at least 5 years, own the business or CEO, exhibit community involvement and has led the business thru major growth and development
