News tips started pouring in over the weekend about the sudden closure of the beloved fast-food restaurant Krystal in Carrollton. Easily accessible for UWG Students getting a quick bite, the Krystal on Maple Street is now permanently closed. This statement was received from a Krystal spokesperson in regards to the closure, “Strategic store closures like these allow us to reposition resources to support other Krystal locations. Through these efforts, our remaining restaurants will help to strengthen our brand and better serve our customers. There’s no planned reduction in staffing, because we give team members the opportunity to relocate to the Krystal of their choice. We invite our Carrollton customers to visit us at the Villa Rica Krystal located just down the road at 130 Highway 61 Connector.”

Originally, In the 1980s, the free-standing building at this location was a Del Taco. It is unknown at this time what the former Krystal location will become. The spokesperson for Krystal also mentions, “Krystal is grateful to the Carrollton community for supporting this location.”
