Southern Therapy Services, located at 812 South Park Street, Carrollton, Georgia, unveiled its newly-renovated and state-of-the art hand clinic, the Vicki Maxwell Roberts Hand Center Friday, December 6.

The hand center is named after Vicki Maxwell Roberts who has practiced Occupational Therapy for more than 40 years at Southern Therapy Services. Her full biography can be read below.

The rehabilitation of the hand and upper extremity is a subspecialty of traditional orthopedic rehabilitation. The therapists that provide these services are specialists within their field. Professional education requires years of training both during professional school and following during practice. Hand Therapists must hold either a current Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy license. This specialty certification requires (in addition) a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice working with the upper extremity prior to taking the Hand Therapy Certification Examination.

Carrollton has emerged as a regional specialty center for many different diagnoses from cancer treatment to orthopedic specialty, rehabilitation, and beyond. Southern Therapy has offered the services of a Certified Hand Therapist for many years, actually having several therapists that have achieved that status. Recently the Carrollton Orthopaedic Clinic added the services of Dr. Richard Herman, MD, Orthopedist with a specialty as a hand surgeon. Southern Therapy strives to match our services to the needs of our community and our medical community.

Southern Therapy Services, Inc. is a forty-one year old local, therapist-owned 18,000 square foot facility, which empowers individuals to take control of their recovery and wellness through access to physical and occupational therapy providers, along with healthy lifestyle products and services. The vast array of unique approaches to treatment and recovery protocols available through this location are designed and delivered by a team of highly trained providers. They provide accessibility for ALL – including those using Medicare, traditional health insurance, or direct pay. Southern Therapy’s treatment spaces support a variety of therapeutic needs that include:
