Workshop Forum Hosted at Vinylyte for New Skatepark in Newnan

Two influential professional skaters took part in a feedback forum hosted by Vinylyte Records in downtown Newnan for a new skatepark planned at C.Jay Smith Park. Newline Skateparks President Kyle Dion and principal designer Kanten Russell led the discussion prior to the forum and allowed those in attendance to give feedback on their favorite skatepark design.

One of the skaters in attendance, Bryan McEver told us, “I love the bike track on Concept 2B because it seems more skilled and complex than the others. I think the obstacles for the skate park are nicely separated.”

In 2019 a comprehensive study led by the city of Newnan’s beautification department along with the City’s park commission, determined that improvements of C. Jay Smith Park could include the addition of the skate park, pump track, and several others additions. A pickleball court is also in the works for this area, and were all determined to be of great benefit by the Newnan city council at their 2019 city council retreat.

Both Kyle and Katen have designed over 250 skate parks across the world. Others in attendance at the workshop feedback forum were New South Construction, HGOR Planning and Architecture Firm, Great Southern Recreation, and Newnan city leaders.
