All Five Carroll County High Schools Ranked Among Top High Schools in The Nation

The U.S. News and World Report recently released its rankings of the best high schools in the nation, and all five Carroll County high schools earned a place on the list.

“Having our high schools earn recognition among the best schools in the nation is testament to the premier educational opportunities Carroll County offers to all of the communities we serve,” stated Scott Cowart, Superintendent of Carroll County School System. “Our teachers and leaders work diligently to provide multiple ways to help prepare students for success in the classroom and for life after graduation, and we are proud that their efforts are being recognized at the national level.”

The U.S. News and World Report highest ranking high schools are selected based on those whose students exceed expectations in math and reading state assessments, achieve qualifying scores on a variety of college level exams, and earn a high graduation rate.

Carroll County’s high schools achieved a combined graduation rate of 95% last year, with Mt. Zion High School earning a perfect graduation rate of 100%, followed by Temple High School with a rate of 97.4%, Villa Rica High School with a rate of 95.5%, Central High School with a rate of 93.1%, and Bowdon High School with a rate of 91.9%.

“We are very proud of our schools for their continued commitment to academic excellence. From Advanced Placement courses and Dual Enrollment opportunities to our College and Career Academies, Carroll County is passionate about creating future focused awareness for our students,” added Dr. Jessica Ainsworth, Assistant Superintendent of School Performance.
