Nearly Fifty Volunteers Collect Sixty-Four Bags of Trash in City’s December Litter Cleanup

Nearly fifty volunteers joined the City of LaGrange for its monthly litter cleanup Saturday, December 3rd. The group helped to collect 64 bags of trash, 5 tires and other miscellaneous items.

December Litter Cleanup

The City of LaGrange partnered with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Other groups who participated include the LaGrange High School Service Club, the LaGrange College Lacrosse Team, LaGrange Academy Junior National Honor Society as well as many individuals.
City Manager Meg Kelsey began this litter cleanup campaign in April 2018 hoping to send a message to the community that the City of LaGrange is serious about cleaning up our community. This initial event was so successful the city decided to begin hosting monthly litter pickups.

The City of LaGrange will be hosting the following litter cleanups in 2022-2023:

  • Saturday, January 14th, 8:00-10:00 a.m. new Hamilton Road Park by Colquitt and Brown Streets. Meet in the parking lot at 118 Brown Street. (Confidence Missionary Baptist Church, community partner)
  • Saturday, February 4th, 8:00-10:00 a.m. LaGrange Fire Department Headquarters, 115 Hill Street.
  • Saturday, March 4th, 8:00-10:00 a.m. Piggly Wiggly parking lot, 505 South Greenwood Street.
  • Friday, April 21st, City-wide cleanup LLBTWFI 8AM-1PM
