Newnan is getting a Whataburger!  A job posting for an “Operating Partner” for a Whataburger at 580 Bullsboro Drive was posted last week and a company representative confirms that a new Whataburger will open there “soon”.  The location was most recently Joella’s Hot Chicken, which closed this past December.  Before Joella’s, the space existed as a Pollo Tropical location.

Given the relative newness of the building, Whataburger will likely make use of the existing building.  This effort would not only save the company money, but should also lessen the time spent getting the restaurant ready for business. Any restaurant renovations tend to take far less time then ground-up construction.  Whataburger previously retrofitted a former Hardee’s in Leeds, Alabama which it re-opened as a Whataburger in 2021.

When asked of the potential conversion and opening schedule, a company representative said, “We don’t have any additional details to share aside from being able to confirm the Newnan restaurant is in the works,” but promised “more soon”.

For those unfamiliar, Whataburger is a popular fast food burger restaurant with a cult-like following.  The restaurant’s menu is diverse with offerings including burgers, sandwiches, salads and fries but also a breakfast menu (served 11PM until 11AM) that includes taquitos, biscuits, pancakes, bowls, cinnamon rolls and more!

Whataburger has in their recent Atlanta area openings opened their drive-thru first, then a few weeks later opened their dining room too.  This will likely continue to occur as the chain expands locally. That said, nearly all Whataburger restaurants are open 24/7!

Whataburger has for several years operated a single Georgia location in Thomasville.  This past November, the company opened their first Atlanta area location in Kennesaw.  A second Atlanta area location opened on Highway 92 in Woodstock this past January.   The company has said it plans to add ten more locations to Georgia in 2023, including those planned for Cumming, Monroe, Covington, Athens, Snellville and Dawsonville.  A new location in Buford near the Mall of Georgia is slated to open Thursday, March 23. The  San Antonio-based chain has Texas-sized aspirations of having 50 new Whataburger restaurants opening in Georgia by 2030.
