If you are looking for musical entertainment with a sound off the charts, look no further. No need to drive to Atlanta when you can attend a concert by the Carrollton Wind Ensemble right here in Carroll County. The community concert band is sponsored by the Carroll Symphony Orchestra Foundation and rehearses at the Carrollton Center for the Arts. Created in 2011, this band is under the direction of Terry Lowry.
The CWE’s first concert this season will be October 18 at 7:30 P. M. and includes Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” featuring the talented piano soloist and composer Annalysa Cagasan.
Have you ever dreamed of listening to an Italian Symphony? The Carrollton Wind Ensemble performed on several Italian stages in the cities of Venice, Rome, Florence, Lucca, and Frascati in July.
“Awesome” doesn’t do this group justice. Much in demand, they perform over thirty concerts in a single year. Their upcoming events include performing at the fundraiser for the Rapha Clinic of West Georgia on September 26 at 6:30, followed by the fall concert at the Carrollton Center for the Arts. In addition Lowry noted, “We will be playing on November the ninth at Veterans Park as part of the Veterans Park Association Veterans Day service; and we will perform a Christmas concert on December the 17th.”
Are you a musician? If so, the Carrollton Wind Ensemble is looking for a few good men and women who played a concert band instrument in high school or college. That’s right, anyone from the ninth grade up can join even if they haven’t played in a while. Rehearsals are at 7:00 P. M. on Tuesdays at the Carrollton Center for the Arts. Terry would like everyone to know, “This is the perfect time to join the wind ensemble as we begin our new season; we invite everyone in the west Georgia and east Alabama area to join us. Our first rehearsal of the season will be August 20th at 7:00 P.
