SUMMARY:Keep Newnan Beautiful Hosts Tire Amnesty Day for Coweta County Residents
DESCRIPTION:Keep Newnan Beautiful (KNB) is excited to announce a Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Hunter Recreation Complex, 2970 Highway 16 E, Sharpsburg, GA 30277.\nThis community recycling event offers Coweta County residents a safe and convenient way to properly dispose of unwanted tires. Thanks to funding provided through the Star Grant Program and the State of Georgia’s Solid Waste Trust Fund, this event is made possible at no cost.\nImportant Event Details:\n\n\nDate/Time: Saturday, October 18, 2025 | 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon\n\n\nLocation: Hunter Recreation Complex, 2970 Highway 16 E, Sharpsburg, GA 30277\n\n\nEligibility: Open to Coweta County residents only\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\nTires must be off the rim to be accepted for free\n\n\nRim fees apply:\n\n\nPassenger car/truck tires: $10 each\n\n\nTractor-trailer tires: $25 each\n\n\nOversized equipment tires: $50 each (on or off rim)\n\n\n\n\nParticipants must present a valid photo ID\n\n\nNo business or commercial tires will be accepted\n\n\n\n\n \nWhy Proper Tire Disposal Matters:\n\n\nAbandoned tires can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, increasing the spread of diseases such as West Nile virus.\n\n\nImproperly discarded tires are a fire hazard, and tire fires are extremely difficult to extinguish while releasing harmful toxins into the air.\n\n\nTires left in the environment can pollute soil and waterways, posing risks to wildlife and local ecosystems.\n\n\nRecycling tires helps conserve landfill space and allows materials to be repurposed into products like rubber mulch, playground surfaces, and road materials.\n\n\n \nKeep Newnan Beautiful Director, Page Beckwith shared the organization’s enthusiasm:\n“We are thrilled to bring Tire Amnesty Day back to Coweta County through support from the State of Georgia’s Solid Waste Trust Fund. This program is an incredible opportunity for residents. Not only does it help us keep our community cleaner and safer, but it also removes barriers by making tire recycling free for off-rim tires. Thanks to the Star Grant, we’re able to provide this service affordably, which means more residents can take part and make a real difference in our environment.”\nFor more information about Tire Amnesty Day or other upcoming recycling events, please contact Keep Newnan Beautiful at 678-673-5505 or visit www.keepnewnanbeautiful.org\n
