The City of Villa Rica has received numerous inquiries about the earth moving at the intersection of Liberty and Edge roads, just south Interstate 20 at Exit No. 26. This is the staging area for what is known as the Dalton Expansion project, a 106-mile pipeline lateral connecting Williams Energy’s existing Transco (Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company) natural gas pipeline to an existing electric generating facility in northern Georgia.
Work is expected to be completed by May 2017 and includes 13 miles of new steel pipeline in the eastern portion of Carroll County, with 1.6 miles of 30-inch pipe and 11.4 miles of 24-inch pipe. Carroll County will also be the site of a compressor station to boost transmission pressure. The pipeline will continue through Douglas, Paulding, Bartow, Gordon and Murray counties.
