Departure
Popular Journey tribute act Departure will return to rock Carrollton’s Amp along with Mad Margritt, July 19.
Now in their 17th year together, Departure features bassist Doug Ballard, lead vocalist Brian Williams, guitarist Jason Wilson, keyboardist and guitarist Joel Hayes and drummer Chris Stone. All members of the band also sing. The band replicates the look, sound and feel of ‘80s rock super group Journey and prides itself on giving their audience a high-energy stage show. Dressed in the iconic tuxedo jacket, lead vocalist Brian Williams’ singing voice flawlessly matches Steve Perry’s vocal range and on-stage movements. Everything heard during their performance is live with no pre-recorded tracks used.
Show opener Mad Margritt is an explosive, high energy rock band based out of Atlanta. The band consists of Eddie Smith on vocals, Mark Cook on guitar, Brian Kirtland on bass and Rick Shoemaker on drums. The band has released multiple CDs and toured with acts including Ratt, Cinderella, Great White, Warrant, Slaughter, Quiet Riot, Skid Row, The Bullet Boys, Tesla, Every Mothers Nightmare and Pretty Boy Floyd. They were also featured in several national publications including Metal Edge and Spin Magazine.

All events at the Amp are free. No professional photography is allowed during shows at the Amp. Please visit carrolltonga.com/amp for updates, venue guidelines and policies. The Amp Concert Series is sponsored by Scott Evans Nissan and Scott Evans Dodge.
