The Carrollton City Schools Education Foundation recently wrapped up its Golden Giving campaign with record-breaking fundraising. The annual back-to-school initiative garners support from community members and district employees alike who make recurring donations to expand educational experiences for students.

Golden Giving is a simple way community members can give as little as $10 a month to support the foundation’s program areas, which include scholarships, classroom grants, and field trip experiences. The foundation’s current focus is to provide more students with access to field trips, particularly those who would otherwise be unable to afford them.

The winner of the Golden Giving school competition was Carrollton Elementary School, which was represented by CES Principal Courtney Walker and CES students Saxyn and Whitleigh Walker. The campaign raised an estimated $70,000 from community donors and sponsors. Nearly sixty percent of employees also give each month to support the foundation through an employee giving program.

“This year’s campaign brought excitement and friendly competition. The addition of the school challenge and Flash Race boosted engagement and helped raise more funds to support our campaign,” said CCS Education Foundation Director Brooke Mobley. “With support from our foundation board, the Board of Education, and our community, these initiatives are expanding opportunities for students and teachers—and with just $10 a month, anyone can help make a difference.”

There was a “Gold Out” celebration on Sept. 5 to close out the campaign. This year featured a tier of sponsors who had the opportunity to race the Gold Flash at the football game and raise additional funds for the cause. Additionally, each Golden Giver was entered for a chance to win prizes at the event. Although the Flash ultimately won the foot race, the Southwire Company raised the most money for the foundation among the sponsors.

In addition to the community sponsors, a school competition was established to challenge Trojans across campus to contribute to the campaign, with CES crowned the winner at the “Gold Out” game. New sponsor levels and the school competition helped the foundation reach new heights in its fundraising efforts.

“The record success of this year’s Golden Giving campaign is a testament to the deep commitment of our community to provide the best educational experience for our students,” said CCS Superintendent Dr. Mark Albertus. “This effort ensures that the Carrollton City Schools Education Foundation can continue to provide resources like scholarships, classroom grants and field trips, directly impacting every child we serve.”

Established in 1993, the foundation has given more than $1.5 million to support programs that directly impact students. Last year alone, the organization awarded scholarships to 38 students, provided 61 teacher grants, and helped 2,055 students attend field trips. To become a Golden Giver, visit https://bit.ly/giveforgold.
