Central High School recently welcomed Melissa Singletary of Wayne Davis Concrete as part of the “Principal for a Day” program, an initiative that allows business and civic leaders to step into the role of a school principal to better understand the rewards and challenges of educational leadership.

Ms. Singletary began her day with Principal Kelly Edwards, who provided a brief campus tour and visits to several Career, Technology, and Agriculture Education (CTAE) classrooms.  Throughout the day, she observed the daily operations of the school and gained firsthand insight into the responsibilities of leading a large and active high school community.

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce sponsors this program to strengthen the partnership between schools, businesses, and the community. By engaging leaders like Ms. Singletary, the Chamber highlights both the strengths and opportunities in our schools while fostering collaboration that supports student success.

Principal Edwards shared, “Programs like this give our community partners a real look at the work being done inside our schools every day. We are proud of our students and staff, and we appreciate the Chamber of Commerce and leaders like Ms. Singletary for taking the time to connect with our school. Strong partnerships help us provide more opportunities for students to succeed.”

Mr. Edwards, who has served as Central High School’s principal for the past four years and brings 14 years of administrative experience in Carroll County Schools, emphasized the importance of community partnerships in helping students thrive.
