Keep in mind this is a story from June 20th, 2012. Ground breaking has begun on the new Steak N Shake. The land preparations are underway and several old buildings have been demolished. The city has issued a construction permit as of June 19th to Steak n Shake. The site that Steak n Shake is currently constructing a store on is South Park Street at Sue Alice Lane. Here is a time-line of events – On March 12th we contacted corporate franchising and received confirmation from them that a location was being discussed. Corporate mentioned that before any other construction was started they would need to finish the Athens, Georgia location. As of April 26th The Carrollton Menu had a phone call returned from corporate stating Carrollton was unavailable for new franchising. This means plans are still in progress for Carrollton. Carrollton seems to be a fantastic fit for a Steak n Shake and I have always wanted one here. On May 14th we received construction plans for the new Steak n Shake. Currently there is a bid on construction which means construction companies are bidding on the project to see who will do it for less money. A permit was issued during the week of June 18th and Steak n Shake would possibly open by Jan 2013. We hope to see the blueprints and exact design of the new Steak n Shake. Above is a picture of the new prototype store that is currently being built in several locations across the southeast. The location of this new Steak n Shake is across the street from the Hampton Inn off Hwy 27 next to Sue Alice Lane, where Southside Automotive was. We do not have an exact address.
