Central High School FBLA Wins Region for Fourth Year in a Row

(Carrollton, Ga. – January 30, 2015) Central High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competed on the region level in a variety of events. Central’s FBLA Chapter was a finalist in the Monopoly Tournament and received numerous team and individual awards.

Students placing in individual events are as follows: Kelsi Glover placed 9th in Business Calculations, Dallin Anderson placed 1st in Business Calculations, Mallory Geter placed 10th in Business Math, John Jones placed 2nd for Business Plan, Daniel Moye placed 3rd in Client Services, Scott Anderson placed 4th in Impromptu Speaking and 1st in Economics, Quinn Evans placed 1st in Future Business Leaders of America, Cole Glommen placed 10th in Personal Finance, Jillian Kellett placed 6th in Personal Finance, Andrew Stewart placed 4th in Public Speaking I, Katie Schmittou placed 5th in Help Desk, Caroline Conerly placed 1st in Public Speaking II, Kobe Wilson placed 4th in Introduction to Business Communications, Katelyn Bennett placed 6th in Introduction to Business Communications, Trent Paul placed 4th in Computer Applications, and Kimberly Johnson placed 1st in Job Interview. Kimberly’s Job Interview score was the highest in the State of Georgia for Job Interview.

In team events the following awards were given: the Marketing team of Sierra Lackey, Darby Turner and Bailey Thomas placed 3rd, Michael Mitchell and Trent Paul placed 2nd in Global Business, the Business Presentation Team of Savannah McWhorter, Sydney Stone, and Lindsey Pierce placed 4th, the Parliamentary Procedure team of Anna Schulenburg, Quinn Evans, Caroline Conerly, Katie Schimittou, Logan Hughes placed 3rd, the Business Ethics team of Amy Hill, Amber Tolbert, and Maya Babbs placed 1st, and this team earned the top score in the State of Georgia.

The Central High School FBLA Chapter received the biggest award of the night by being named the Region 7 Sweepstakes winner for the fourth year in a row. Advisors for the Central High School FBLA Chapter are Mrs. Kelly Bass and Ms. Sarah Eidson.

Six-time STAR teacher, Alice taught Advanced Placement English, literature, composition, speech and theater for over twenty years, part of which time she also served as Director of Admissions, Development, Public Relations, and Alumni at Oak Mountain Academy. She is the managing partner of Ridley-Teal Properties and content editor for the City Menus. She is a board member of the Carroll Symphony Orchestra and enjoys playing flute with the Carroll Community Wind Ensemble.
