Smoothy Way opened a smoothie bar during the first week of May inside Sous Chef, located at Westover Square in Carrollton. Owner Janine Lewis tells us, “Our smoothies are made with whole fruits and vegetables. We carefully source the ingredients we use in our smoothie bar to ensure that nothing contains high fructose corn syrup, or artificial ingredients.”
Smoothy Way offers a quick easy-in-and-out juice bar option where customers can build a treat based on their specific dietary needs. For example, customers can build a keto, paleo, and whole 30 approved smoothie that resembles a dessert while packing in nutrients.
When Smoothy Way began looking for the right storefront to feature their healthy option, Sous Chef was presented to them. She tells us, “Prior to taking ownership in The Sous Chef, my business partner and I already had Smoothy Way in the works. Simultaneously, I was quickly outgrowing the capacity of my small catering kitchen where I was preparing meals for Skinny Apron, as well as Liberty Eagle Academy, UWG Pre-K, and several families around town. Combining forces with Jason and Lindsey Faircloth to obtain partnering ownership of Sous Chef meant that I would have access to a more fully equipped commercial kitchen, as well as a storefront where I would be able to open a Smoothy Way.”
Smoothy Way offers ice cream from Greenwood Creameries, allowing Smoothy Way to use their recipes to ensure an all-natural product. In addition to ice cream, Smoothy Way continues to serve a special blend of coffee, drip coffee, specialty drinks, and espresso blends. Janine chimes in happily, “Add a shot of espresso to your smoothie!”
Smoothy Way, inside Sous Chef, is the pick-up location for Sous Chef’s subscription meals, as well as having their frozen casseroles, chicken salad, pimento cheese, and garden salads. Orders can be made for walk-ins or online by clicking here. Sous Chef’s online meal planning tool offers weekly prepared meal subscriptions that are great for meal gifting and at-home menu planning.
Janine says, “We have a team of three chefs–Ashlee Ayers, Stacey Gordon, and I–who ensure everyone gets fed.”
Laughing and singing can often be heard from the kitchen. Janine excitedly says, “We believe that a kitchen should be fun. Our barista, Bryan, attempts to remain professional in the front of the house. Our goal in the kitchen is to add the love of food into everything we make and maintain integrity in the products and services we offer.”
Janine’s personal connection shines brightly from the business into the community. She says, “The community of Carrollton represents family. Before anything else I am a mother, and from my perspective our community is full of fierce mothers like me who value good food. To the business this means that we are here to help. We want to provide a simple way to bring families to the table with healthy choices, no matter how busy life gets, and add love to meals being provided as gifts. Food makes me happy. I just want to pass that feeling along.”
