Get ready, shoppers, because plans are in the works for a huge shopping center development in the Arbor Springs area of Coweta County. Located at the southwest corner of Arbor Springs Parkway and US Highway 29, the development is sure to add many shopping options for north Coweta County residents. Duly named for its location, the shopping center will be known as Arbor Springs Plaza.
Speculation is growing on what retailer would serve as the main anchor, which appears to be a grocery store. Construction documents call for hundreds of parking spaces, specified areas for curbside pickup, and plans for a drive-through pharmacy. The main building is nearly 50,000 square feet with a 5,000-square-foot neighboring strip center on the side that could be home to a different business or an addition to the main building. There are plans for at least seven more individual business spaces and several hundred more parking spaces.
A rezoning application was submitted for an amendment of condition. Actual zoning was done several years back with parking limitations. According to county documents, the proposed amendment would review the number of parking spaces so that developers can proceed without parking limitations. A public hearing is scheduled on March 23, 2021, at 6:00 P.M. at 37 Perry Street.
With all the future retail space available in the area, the possibilities are endless as to what this could turn into over time.
