The Carrollton Youth Theatre will present the classic family story, Anne of Green Gables, October 27–28 at 7pm at the Carrollton Center for the Arts.
“I have always enjoyed TV shows that promote good values and life lessons such as Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons and Andy Griffith,” said Center for the Arts Manager Tim Chapman. “Our production of Anne of Green Gables fits this category. Anne is witty, intelligent and very likable, regardless of her circumstances. The one-liners she delivers as she navigates her childhood make me laugh.”
When a high-spirited, red-haired orphan girl is sent to live with the Cuthberts at Green Gables, they claim a mistake has been made since they had asked for a boy. But before Marilla and her brother Matthew can send her back to the orphanage, Anne captures their hearts and her winning personality and funny antics endear her to all who come to know her.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed directing this talented group of young actors,” said the show’s director, Ciara Thornton. “They have worked so hard to bring this classic story to life.”
The performance is sponsored by Dianne Jackson.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at carrolltonarts.com, by phone at 770-838-1083 or at the center’s box office at 251 Alabama Street.
