Three (3) Central High School students have been selected to participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All-State Band. This will be the 5th time for senior Makayla Parson (French horn), the second time for junior Emanuel Armira Montenegro (alto saxophone), and the first time for sophomore Jeremy Norton (trombone).

The GMEA Georgia All-State Band is an auditioned band that includes some of the best student instrumentalists from around the state of Georgia. In order to be accepted, students must first get passed a rigorous first round district audition. Following this audition, a select few are invited to compete at the state level. Out of more than 1800 auditioning students, only a few hundred are selected to play in one of the five All-State ensembles.

The Georgia All-State Band event will be held February 29 through March 2 at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. The formal performance is held the evening of March 2. Central High School’s band directors are Mr. David Warren and Ms. Riley Mitchell.
