Those traveling between Carrollton and Mt. Zion on GA-16 have noticed lots of orange barrels and workers lately. We’ve received the latest information from GDOT about a massive project taking place here. A new roundabout is being constructed. According to Joe Schulman with GDOT, utility work involving the gas lines has been completed and Georgia Power is currently installing power poles with more work to go. Once that’s finished, the phone company will complete their work. The local water department will also relocate the fire hydrants.
In addition, the contractor is starting to grade for temporary paving to shift traffic; and after that work, pipes will be installed prior to building the actual roundabout. Keep watching The City Menus for more on this progress.
