Bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Bragg will headline the 2024 Carrollton BookFest, April 5 – 6 at the Center for the Arts, along with other authors Hank Phillipi Ryan (The House Guest) Deborah Goodrich Royce (Reef Road), and Bren McClain (One Good Mama Bone).
Friday’s program will be dedicated to writing workshops on various topics including mysteries, poetry and world building. Bren McClain will present her acclaimed full-day Writer’s Master Class, which is already sold out. Agent Cherry Wiener will discuss the state of publishing and how to work with an agent, and she will entertain pitches from aspiring authors.
On Saturday, national and regional authors will discuss topics of interest to both writers and readers. First thing in the morning, Matt Jolley, an Edward R. Murrow Award-winning feature reporter, will interview Rick Bragg and later in the day, John Pruitt. Hank Phillipi Ryan and Deborah Goodrich Royce will converse and other presenters will include Georgia Author of the Year Robert Gwaltney, authors and educators Ray Atkins and Anthony Grooms and author and chef Johnathon Barrett among many others.
Registration for these events is required and tickets are available through Eventbright.
Saturday will also feature the Book Fair, free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet authors, browse their books and purchase autographed copies.
The culminating event will be a presentation by Rick Bragg on Saturday evening at 6:30 pm. Tickets will be sold separately and are on sale through the Carrollton Center for the Arts.
