Robert Tolbert was named principal at Sharp Creek Elementary School for next school year on March 21 by the Carroll County Board of Education. The move was one of a number of personnel actions taken as the Carroll County School System prepares for the 2024-25 school year.
Tolbert began his career in education in 2013 and has taught at both Carroll County Schools and Carrollton City Schools. Tolbert has served as an assistant principal since 2019, first at Providence Elementary and most recently at Sand Hill Elementary.
“Mr. Tolbert has proven himself as an assistant principal, and we know he will make a great leader for Sharp Creek,” Superintendent Scott Cowart said. “We are looking for leaders who understand that our real purpose is positively changing lives and that preparing students for success after graduation begins very early.”
Tolbert holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of West Georgia and is enrolled there now in the educational leadership specialist degree program. Tolbert and his wife Ashley have a son and a daughter.
The board also approved Kym Hilbert, current interim assistant principal at Villa Rica Middle School, to join Tolbert as assistant principal at Sharp Creek next year.
Additionally for next school year, Aleja Turner was named an assistant principal at Ithica Elementary and John Garner was named assistant principal at Villa Rica Middle School. Turner currently serves as an intervention specialist in the Teaching and Learning Department. Garner is a history teacher and coach at Temple High School.
