Winged Wonders Summer Camp Delights Kids with Nature and Art Activities

After much success last summer, ChildrenConnect Newnan Children’s Museum and Keep Newnan Beautiful partnered to bring Winged Wonders Summer Camp to downtown Newnan this summer. Rising K-5th graders visited the ChildrenConnect Museum, located on the corner of Temple Ave and College St, to participate in engaging and educational sessions surrounding nature, pollination, and the importance of bees, bats, and birds.

“Winged Wonders Summer Camp,” held on June 3-6, provided children with opportunities to create styrofoam flowers with pom-pom nectar, clothespin bats, and to learn about how the environment impacts bees. Volunteer, Molly Millsap, led each educational session with an accompanying craft. Each child crafted water stations to place in their gardens, allowing bees to rest on rocks and avoid drowning during the arduous task of pollination.

Amber Poindexter, Program Chair Director of the ChildrenConnect Museum, said Our Winged Wonders Summer Camp was a fantastic opportunity for kids to learn about nature in a fun and engaging way. We were thrilled to partner with Keep Newnan Beautiful and have the support of wonderful volunteers like Miss Molly Millsap.”
